Leading in a Global Economy
Keynote Speaker
Mingming Liu
Vice President, Global Technology
& Business Development,

As leaders, we should make use of our unique perspectives. We all have different logic and angles and viewpoints that are valuable.
Our intuition is beyond the data: we have vision and an ability to predict. This is from nature and inborn. If you use your feelings correctly, you can see beyond the data. With feeling and intuition, you can catch opportunities faster and earlier.
Don't be afraid to take risks. Lead a cross-cultural team and you will have different experiences from different points of view. Don’t be traditional. Be an entrepreneur to succeed.

13th Five-Year Plan: Which Way is China Headed and What’s Next?
Keynote Speaker
Yan Mei
Senior Partner, Brunswick Group
The G20 summit put China’s leadership into the limelight, focusing on what solutions global leaders can provide to speed up the slowing economy. A key message from the leaders is that we need to focus on policies that support growth through innovation.
The five-year plan reframed the new normal. The goals are challenging. Poverty alleviation alone will prove an extremely tough goal to accomplish.
The issue with SOE reformation under the five-year plan is not about whether it is difficult to shut down the SOEs. There’s a larger issue. The society has yet to understand all of the lay-offs that will occur and take in all of these realities. It’s a harmonious society, and in that way, businesses and SOEs alike face real challenges. It’s a very daunting task for the government to balance the equation of how to reduce the role of SOEs while maintaining the current harmony in society.

Finally, thank you to our policy panelist Andrew Dougherty for sharing his musical parody with our group. It was a great hit!
